Hourly drop in care is available for $5.00 per hour per child based on space available. Please use Military Child Care website to check for availability. Subase NLON’s Youth Center offers the following: Open Recreation Program for ages 9-12; Teen Programs for ages 13-18; Instructional Classes for ages 3 and up; Field Trips, Community Service and Leadership Opportunities, Youth Sponsorship, and Special Events. Activities in the Arts, Technology, Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Education and Career Development, Character and Leadership, and Health & Life skills are offered each week. The program also offers intramural sports, dances, instructional clinics, community service opportunities and field trips. SYC is a member affiliate of the Boys & Girls Club of America and a proud partner with 4H.
Groton Little League, and various sports leagues are offered by independent parent run and city/town organizations. SYC will provide point of contacts and pertinent league information to assist you in registering your child for these sports. Our hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday 1730 – 2000, Friday 18:000-2100, Weekend hours varies based on special events.

Special Needs paperwork will need to be submitted on any child who meets the definition below. Children with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or food allergies will need to ensure that the program has the required medication, for example, inhalers, epi-pen, antihistamines etc., on site and with all required CYP medication forms. School permission forms will not be accepted. Please contact the program at 860-448-6843 with your questions on special needs.
b. Definition of Disability and Special Needs. Children with special needs are children who require more than routine and basic care; including children with or at risk of disabilities; chronic illnesses; and physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions that require health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children in general (Federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau). An individual with a disability is a person who:
(1) Has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities (major life activities include, but are not limited to, breathing, walking, communicating, eating, working, and taking care of oneself);
(2) Has a record of such impairment, or
(3) Is perceived by others as having such impairment (Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 1990).
c. Categories of Disability Include:
(1) Physical (e.g., muscular dystrophy or multiple sclerosis);
(2) Sensory impairments (e.g., a significant visual or hearing impairment (wearing glasses is generally not considered a disability per definition, which includes substantial limitations to major life activities));

(4) Developmental (e.g., autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy);
(5) Chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, food allergies, or diabetes);
(6) Social and emotional disorders (e.g., anxiety disorders and oppositional defiant disorder); or
(7) Learning (e.g., attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyslexia).
